Setting my desktop to 1024x768x16 allowed the demo to start without problems and from there I was able to change the demo to 32 bit color, exit, reset my desktop to my preferred res and color depth and then run AOM. I installed it, started it up, watched the short opening movie and then got a "Failed to initialize" error when it tried to start the regular game.Īnyway, after much annoyance and a little digging I found that the game was trying to start in 1024x768x16 mode, and I was running 1024x768x32 in Windows.
